{fun friday}

What was supposed to be a relaxing and low-key Friday got off to an adventurous start! It all began this morning when I went for my morning run. As I was running, I realized I was being chased by two dogs – little guys, so there were no worries. Instead of running from them, I stopped and made friends. They were so dirty but SO sweet! I realized that one of them had a tag so I tricked him into letting me pick him up and carry him home. The other dog decided to tag along and kept jumping and nipping at the other dog trying to get him to come down and play. I don’t believe they were from the same home but they were the best of friends. They reminded me of two single guys roaming the town together. I carried Sammy all the way home and got them to come inside the garage. I gave them some water and food and tried to call the phone number. Unfortunately, it was no longer a working number, so I was waiting for Corey to finish working so we could go look for the address on the tag. I decided to put them in the backyard where it would be cooler and then came inside to get my camera to take some fun pictures of them. When I returned…they were gone. :(   We drove around to look but could not find them. Sammy was so sweet and just wanted to go home and the other dog was definitely looking for a good time. I am just hoping that someone else has taken them home because I’ve been worried about them all morning. Either way, I definitely made some new friends!

In other news, I have been working on a series of different collages for a client and wanted to share! I hope everyone is have an enjoyable Friday!

One of my very favorite things about photographing children is watching them grow and change – it happens so quickly! It is such a privledge to capture them as they are now for the future memories of their families to treasure.

I photographed Scout 3 months ago as a newborn and she has changed so much! Her personality has really started to blossom and I get excited just thinking about how much she will continue to grow and change as times goes on. She was so laid-back and such a happy baby. She has definitely mastered one skill inparticular very well – the art of spitting up on her Mom and Dad. We had a few “wardrobe” changes due to this new found talent but Mom and Dad were so easy going and are so in love with everything about her! We will see you guys again in a few months and enjoy your preview!

A few of my favorite detail shots….loving my new lens!

My favorite shot of the whole day!

Love the way they love!

Curious eyes.

Love this room and the way Dad is so helpful!

whew…it’s been awhile!

A lot has been going on so I apologize for the lack of posting!  Although summer is quickly approaching, it is one of the busiest times of the year as a First Grade teacher.  There is quite a bit going on outside of the classroom – lots of paperwork, conferences, and meetings.  I have been very occupied and will continue to be busy until June 6th!

A few updates!  As most of you know, my good friend, Stacy Reeves, traveled to The Woodlands recently for a few photo shoots and hung out with Corey and I while she was here.  I had the opportunity to tag along to a couple of her photo shoots – both of which were great friends of ours.  Her first session was with my college roommate and best friend since first grade, Allison.  Alli and Matt will be getting married this September and Stacy will be photographing their wedding.  Her second session was with a few good friends of Corey and I’s from college, Nick and Alex.  They were married a few months ago and contacted Stacy to do an Extreme Bridal session.  I tagged along as a helper (i.e light fairy) and had the opportunity to take a few shots.  It was such an honor to spend the evening with Stacy to watch her work.  Check out her blog for more photos from her session with Alex and Nick!

Thanks for letting me tag along Stacy!

Thanks for letting me tag along Stacy!

I also had the privilege to photograph a very special family – The Kemmerly’s.  The Kemmerly’s are good friends and neighbors of The Webster’s and our best friend’s Kat and Craig.  They all live right around the corner from one another in the beautiful neighborhood of Cottage Greens.  Now I am not exaggerating when I say that Cottage Greens is THE most beautiful and quaint neighborhood in The Woodlands – in my opinion at least.  It is definitely one of my happy places.  Some of my most favorite people in the world live in this neighborhood and I keep meeting more!  It is such an incredibly tight-knit group of people.  They take such wonderful care of each other, from making dinner for families with new additions to hosting family fun days in their neighborhood park.  It is almost sick how perfect this little neighborhood is.  Needless to say it is a dream of mine to someday move there!  Any who – back to The Kemmerly’s!  They contacted me to have photographs taken for Mother’s Day – a great gift idea!  They were so welcoming and down-to-earth.  They were such a treat to spend the afternoon with, especially their precious daughter!  I remember Corey continuously repeating “She is so beautiful!”.  She has the best personality and she spent the afternoon entertaining us with her laughter, incredible dancing (seriously!), and drumming.  She is going to grow up to be one talented little girl!

What a special family!

Be sure to check back for photographs from our trip to LA and my first engagement session (will post soon).  I also have the privilege to photograph the precious Scout again tomorrow – I can’t believe she is already 3 months!  I can’t wait to see how much she has grown!

lily

The weekend-o-fun continues!  Not only were we able to photograph the beautiful Jolee this weekend, but we also spent some quality time with Lily!  Thanks again to my fav, Stacy, for all of her help!  Not only can she take full credit for getting Corey and I together (she was our chaperone on our first date!) but she’ll be able to take credit for my career as well due to all her amazing guidance and support.

Here are some of my favs from our session with Lily!

I met Jolee when she was only a few days old and now at 4 months, Corey and I returned to do her first photo session.  One of my best friend, college roommate, AND Dallas Wedding Photographer, Stacy Reeves, was generously willing to come along and teach me a “few” things!  That is quite the understatement.  I remember looking at her at some point throughout our first session on Saturday and saying “I can’t believe we are taking photographs together!”.  This has been something she and I used to experiment with in college and here we were doing a professional portrait session!

Jolee was such a sweet baby girl!  My favorite thing about her was her spunky hair and her beautiful eyes that told so much.  This has to be one of the most laid back families I have spent time with!  Although, they are already dear friends of ours, they were so open to all our adventurous ideas!

Check back on Wednesday for Stacy and I’s session with Lily!  Have a great Wednesday!

Love this wide lense!

Tiny feet!

Love the hair!

Love the expression!

exciting weekend!

I have a very exciting weekend to come! Corey and I are traveling to Dallas to run a 5K and do two photo sessions! I am lucky enough to have one of my bestest friends and wedding photographer, Stacy Reeves, tag along for some photography fun and guidance! Check back for pics from the 5k and my latest sessions with Stacy!

kate

Two of Corey and I’s most special friends have a beautiful 9 mo old daughter, Kate. Corey and I have been truly blessed to watch her grow! She is a GORGEOUS baby girl and I can see so much of both of her parents in her!

Our session together was more like a “play-date” than your typical photography session. We spent our time crawling around on the floor, laughing, and playing outside! Before we knew it, it was time for a nap! I loved toting along my antique chair and trying something new. Thanks for letting me experiment! Enjoy!

Stunning!

Such a poser!

Family fun!

One of my favorites!

Happy baby!

I’m serious when I say these two girls should be in a magazine! AND they just so happen to be like family to us. We have come to know The Webster’s through their “Aunt Kat”, my bestest friend and lucky for us they decided to move to our neck of the woods not too long ago! We spent the morning in the park swinging, running, eating candy, and hanging out. ENJOY! :)

Love the feet!

My absolute fav!

YAY for candy!

adalynn and austin

I had the privledge to photograph my first set of twins this past weekend!  Adalynn and Austin arrived on February 25th.  Brent and Elizabeth invited me to come to their home in The Woodlands and photograph their new bundles of joy.  These two precious babies were surrounded by so much love!  They dozed in and out almost the entire session and were such a joy to photograph.  Despite the fact that they were born into a family of Longhorns and wore Longhorn booties, my camera is still functioning. ;)   I loved witnessing the bond between these two special babies.

My favorite!

I love these guys!

panama city!!

Corey and I went on another adventure!  We LOVE to travel and his job fortunately gives us the opportunity to do so quite often.  Corey has been on a project in Atlanta, GA since September of last year.  We had the idea to fly me out to Atlanta and then drive to visit my sister and her family in Panama City.  We haven’t seen any of them since our wedding in July of ’06.  We had such a blast!  We sat on the porch and relaxed, made blankets (or more like watched Traci make blankets), played games, and went to the white sandy beaches where we took some FUN photographs!

My brother in law, Rich, is the person that originally sparked my interest in photography. When I was 13 I went to visit them to babysit my nephews for the summer. I remember he had quite the collection of equipment. I probed with lots of questions and have been curious ever since! It was so fun to have some fun with the camera with him now that I’m all grown up! We so enjoyed spending some quality time with them! Miss you guys!

I was so scared!

Daisy and I are bonding.

My crazy nephews and husband!
